Inspired by the Centre for Contemporary Photography’s ‘Auto-Photo: A Life in Portraits’ exhibition at RMIT Gallery, this motion piece captures the timeless ritual of stepping behind the curtain, waiting for the countdown, and collecting your strip of memories. The exhibition showcased Alan Adler’s extraordinary archive. Melbourne’s oldest and longest-serving photobooth technician, Adler maintained the city’s fleet for over 50 years. Today, Metro Auto Photo continues this legacy, lovingly restoring and operating Melbourne’s seven remaining photobooths across the city.
